The powers behind the Super 14 competition have made it clear via the new law interpretations that will be used this season that they want to the Southern Hemisphere’s premier club competion to be an enjoyable spectacle with a lot of continuous attacking play.
Based on this weekend’s first round of matches, we’d have to say the new interpretations look like a success even if there were a few high penalty counts as players get used to the new guidelines. In fact, we’re already hoping that the new guidelines catch on worldwide. We may get our wish, considering that the new interpretations may be seen in international tests in a few months.
